The Daily Bread benefits from the partnership of many non-profits, businesses, government entities, and individuals throughout Lenawee County.
Community Collaboration is more than just support:
we rely on YOU to maintain operations.
Volunteering at The Daily Bread can be a rewarding experience for individuals, families, groups and business colleagues. Children aged 8-14 are welcome with parent supervision. High school and college students who need volunteer hours are welcome to contact The Daily Bread.
Appropriate clothing: closed-toe shoes, baseball cap, clothes that you don't mind getting dirty, layers in colder months, nothing that is revealing.
While serving, you must wear a hairnet (if you didn't bring a hat) and gloves. Long hair must be tied back. Aprons are available.
Many patrons enjoy seeing new faces and interacting with volunteers.
Hot meals are served Monday-Saturday from 11:30am-2:00pm. All are welcome. We offer one meal per person, dine in or carry out.
PERSONAL CARE ITEMS
Personal care bags are distributed once a quarter. We offer male and female hygiene bags. Donations of personal care items are always appreciated. Feminine hygiene items are available daily.
Anyone who is seeking to complete hours to meet probation requirements may volunteer at The Daily Bread, with the approval of their probation officer. Shifts are Tuesday-Saturday 11:00am-2:30 pm Please bring your community service work agreement (green) sheet with you to the first appointment. Workers can make an appointment for Tuesday or Friday at 11:00am for the initial training, then can select their schedule. Workers who do not complete the work as assigned are eliminated from this service.
The emergency food pantry is open Tuesday-Friday from 11:30-1:30 pm. Pantry service is operated from the desk in the front of the building. You will need to bring a picture ID to receive food. You may utilize the food pantry service as often as you need.
JOB SKILLS TRAINING
Job skills training is currently on hold due to COVID19. We will update as soon as we have more information.
We are dependent on volunteers to fulfill the mission of alleviating hunger in Lenawee County. Volunteer shifts are Tuesday-Saturday from 11:15am-1:45pm. We schedule one month in advance and need 3-4 volunteers daily.
Volunteers serve the patrons lunch or help with other projects. Wear comfortable clothing you don’t mind getting dirty as well as closed toe shoes and a hat. Dress in layers during the winter months, as it tends to be cold in the building. Aprons are available.
